How To Become An NJ Broker
Steps To Become A Licensed NJ Broker
For NJ Licensed Agents Only
Step 1: You must have 3 Years Full-time Experience As A Licensed Salesperson
Next Sign Up To Take All 3 of the following Broker Classes and may be taken in order:
-General Broker Course (90 Hours)
-Ethics & Agency Course (30 Hours)
-Office Management Course (30 Hours)
Step 2: After completing all 3 Broker Classes and you will receive a certificate of
completion for each completed course. Next you will have all Brokers that
you have been employed by for the last 3 years to sign your Broker's Experience

Step 3: Mail the Broker Experience Report along with the 3 certificate of completion
given by the Instructor to the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. Next the
New Jersey Real Estate Commission will review your paperwork and will send
you a Letter of Eligibility to take the NJ Broker's Exam.
Step 4: Register for the NJ Real Estate Broker's Exam via Psi Testing Center and schedule your Broker's Test.
For Pennsylvania Licensed Brokers & New York Licensed Brokers Please Read First
Step 1: If you are a BROKER, BROKER-SALESPERSON OR ASSOCIATE BROKER, submit a notarized letter from your employing Broker stating that you have been employed on a full-time basis and actively engaged in the real estate brokerage business as a Broker-Salesperson or Broker Associate for the three (3) years immediately preceding your application and not merely licensed.
Step 2: Submit the original copy of CURRENT LICENSE HISTORY, NOT A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE, to be obtained from the licensing authority in the State where you are licensed as a resident Broker confirming continuous licensure as a Broker in that State full-time continuous for the last three (3) years immediately preceding your application.
Step 3: If you qualify for waivers of both the education (90 hour course) and experience requirements, a waiver letter confirming same will be sent to you. Within one (1) year of the issuance of the waivers you must complete the two additional thirty (30) hour broker courses. NOTE: Please DO NOT enroll in either of the two 30 hour Broker courses until you have received a waiver of the 90 hour Broker course from the NJ Real Estate Commission.
